SOLAR FOR POULTRY FARMERS

How can we help Delmarva farmers?

The single largest cost for poultry farmers is electricity – because chicken houses operate 24 hours a day—everyday. The Solar For Farmers project and the Clean Engen Fund will provide solar for farmers— reducing costs & improving farmers’ bottom line.

The EDEN Project has established the Clean Engen Fund to provide a simple solution to the economic and environmental challenges faced by rising electricity costs of poultry growers.

Clean Engen provides a comprehensive and unique financing opportunity for growers to enter into a 10 year lease for solar system, and then own all of the electricity produced by the system for the next 20 years, the remaining life of the solar system. The Clean Engen Fund has been established at the Wellnet Foundation through collaborative efforts with the State of Maryland Department of Economic Development, the National Development Council, Discover Bank, Standard Solar, and others. Ultimately, the Clean Engen Fund serves as a catalyst for agribusiness and renewable energy sectors on multiple levels: job creation, market expansion and economic stimulus to these regions served by the Clean Engen Fund. The innovative Clean Engen program propels small farms into a sustainable economic future.

THE CLEAN ENGEN FUND:
Solar for Farmers Information Workshops

Clean Engen believes that all farming families should have access to solar power at an affordable rate, without requiring the farmer to reach into his pocket or burden his family with more debt. The Clean Engen Fund offers a solution to save on electricity cost without taking on additional debt burden. Poultry farm families will be able to enter into the Clean Engen lease for NO MONEY DOWN, and save on their electric bills on day one, and for the next 30 years.
